Sammet NG - The wait is over

Sammet has launched its Next Generation (NG) 3-Way Dampers for marine applications. This series of NG 3-Way Dampers for marine applications has been created to better meet the demanding needs of shipowners. No matter the vessel, its purpose or operational conditions, Sammet’s world class marine technology can be installed on almost any ship.

Sammet’s Clean Flow marine dampers perfectly complement scrubbers and SCR applications, reliably serving a variety of ships including bulk, container, cruise, RoPax and Ro-Ro, and tanker.

The NG series of 3-Way Dampers for marine applications builds on Sammet’s state-of-the-art technology. “Our continuous improvement mindset has produced updates and enhancements that provide customers even greater product reliability, quality and value for money”, states Mr Sami Nurminen, Product Group Manager at Sammet. 

Advanced design

Other design features include:

  • Low exhaust gas flow resistance with CFD optimised T-frame design
  • Service free bearings at damper backside allow for compact design, installation against walls and no need for a maintenance platform 
  • Blade linkage with linkage cover 
  • Mechanical locking
  • Manhole for internal access to the damper
  • Sealing air and exhaust gas pressure measuring joints


Sammet’s NG series of 3-Way Dampers for marine applications are modular by design meanings they can cater for numerous configurations and applications. “Our innovative, modular design allows customers to add extra equipment  and functionality to any number of vessels, whenever required”, says Nurminen.

The NG 3-Way Dampers can be tailored to include soot cleaning systems, sealing air valves and sealing air fans. Other optional parts such as control cabinets, solenoid valve and service units, limit switches on shafts, junction boxes, limit switches on actuators and emergency cams, are also available.

Actuator options available

Customers also have a choice of pneumatic actuator options. Choose from fail-safe spring operation, fail-safe with pressurised tank and manual override gear.
 
Electrical actuator options include fail-safe with UPS Electro-hydraulic actuator and fail-safe with pressurised tank.
 
Flexible, innovative solutions are not limited to product design. “The modular design also comes with improvements in technical documentation, operating instructions and manuals, so customers can adjust components to their specific needs”, explains Nurminen.
